Dibble Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 24, 2026. Dibble is operated by Emphasis Energy LLC ("we").
What Dibble collects
- Account: the email address and display name you sign up with. Sign-in is handled by Microsoft Entra External ID; we never see or store your password.
- Garden data you create: plant records (names, characteristics, notes, planting dates), maintenance tasks, and plant positions. Positions are measured relative to physical reference points you choose in your yard — Dibble does not collect GPS coordinates or your street address.
- Photos: pictures you take of plants, nursery tags, and reference-point markers.
- Voice: when you dictate a plant description, the transcript is processed to fill in the plant record. Audio is transcribed on your device by Apple's speech recognition; only the text transcript leaves your phone. We do not store audio.
- Optional garden location: a free-text city/region/ZIP you may enter so maintenance plans match your climate. It stays on your phone and is sent only alongside plan-generation requests.
- Service data: AI feature usage counts (for plan limits) and standard technical logs/telemetry for reliability.
How your data is used
To run Dibble for you: storing and syncing your garden across your devices, generating maintenance plans, reading nursery tags, and filling in plant details. We do not sell your data, and we do not show ads.
AI processing
Some features send data to Anthropic (our AI provider) through our servers: dictation transcripts, nursery-tag photos, plant names (for research), and plant summaries plus your optional garden location (for maintenance plans). This processing happens under Anthropic's commercial terms, which do not permit using your data to train their models. Your photos of tags and your transcripts are only used to produce the results you asked for.
Where your data lives
Your garden data and photos are stored in Microsoft Azure (United States), encrypted in transit and at rest. A full copy also lives on your device so Dibble works offline.
Deleting your data
Settings → Account → Delete account permanently removes your account and all associated data — every plant, photo, position, map, and usage record — from our servers and your device. This is irreversible. Backups age out within 35 days.
Your choices
- All camera, microphone, and speech permissions are optional; the related features simply don't run without them.
- You can export your garden as JSON at any time (Export tab).
- Questions or requests: dylan@emphasis.energy.
Children
Dibble is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We'll update this page when the policy changes and note the new effective date above.
